As a Baby Yoga instructor I teach parents and carers simple yoga based movements and techniques. It is a truly special time together, as well as fun to do! Parents don’t need to already know about yoga, they just need to be able to move, love and breathe!


What is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient art which has been practised for centuries. It is a physical, mental and spiritual discipline, originating in India. It is not a religion. Yoga means to unite or join together, bringing together the spiritual mind and body as one. Baby Yoga  brings parent and baby closer together too.


What is Baby Yoga?

Baby Yoga is what babies do naturally and easily.  In today’s world a baby’s natural movements are often reduced due to restrictive holding devices like car seats, etc. It is vital that babies stretch and move. Many yoga poses (asanas) are practised by babies naturally during their growth development. Think of when they first learn to sit on their own,  babies sit in a natural perfectly balanced yoga asana!

The Benefits of Baby Yoga for Baby

With just ten minutes of yoga, practised two or three times a week, you find babies sleep longer, digest more easily, breathe better and grow stronger. Problems such as wind, colic and constipation can be helped through yoga movements. It can help calm a fussy baby and further strengthen parent-child bonding.  Babies learn self-esteem too through movement. When they learn to crawl or walk they are often praised by their parents. Therefore a baby learns that movement is good, creating a greater sense of self-esteem as well as body awareness.

The Benefits of Baby Yoga for Parents

Yoga can empower parents as they learn movements that can help calm a baby, or ease their wind or constipation.  Mothers learn safe, post natal exercises that improve posture and strengthen the inner core, in turn preventing or improving back pain. It may also help with post natal depression and tiredness. Through different Yoga poses and breath control exercises, parents often want to continue learning yoga for themselves.




Baby Yoga Classes

Yoga mats and cushions are provided at the class, but please bring your own blankets to keep warm during relaxation at the end of the session.


My course is open to mums, dads, grandparents and other carers of little ones. The age I recommended for when babies are suitable for my yoga course is from 10 weeks to a year old. Baby Yoga is good for babies (and children) at any age, but for you to learn the routine more easily and to give your baby the best start in life, this is the perfect age to begin.

My Baby Yoga classes are run on a termly basis. The classes are ongoing so there is the opportunity for you to continue beyond one term. A five week class costs £37.50.

Courses are being added all the time so please get in touch to find when the next one is due to start.
