I chose the name Aroma Health Care for my business because as a Clinical Aromatherapist, I believe passionately in the healing powers of the essential oils I use (or aromas as they are sometimes known) and I strive to give each client my best personal care.
I trained with Patricia Davies’s London School of Aromatherapy in the late 1990’s. It was a thorough, in-depth course, learning massage as well as aromatherapy. Following the successful completion of the course and passing the exams, I qualified with a Diploma in Aromatherapy in 1999.
In the same year, I joined the International Federation of Aromatherapists and, as a member I’m governed by their code of ethics.
All these qualifications have given me such pleasure as I witness the healing power of massage, whether it is given to an adult, child, or infant.
In 2009, I qualified as an Infant Massage Instructor with IAIM instructor Wendy Jackson. I run baby massage classes at the Bourne Children’s Centre where I have been based since 2009.
I trained in 2012 with Julie Cleasby of 'To Baby and Beyond'. I run courses at the Bourne Children's Centre.
In 2005, I studied with the MISA, the Massage in Schools Association, to train as a MISA Instructor. MISA was founded by Mia Elmsater and Sylvie Hetu in Sweden. It is a child to child massage programme designed to reduce children’s stress levels, aggression and bullying, and is a programme that covers the whole school.
In 2001/2002 I worked in New York City after 9.11. I worked with a team of American volunteer therapists giving seated massage to emergency workers at Ground Zero. I went on to found the charity REST UK in England in 2002.
